F.A.Q.s

Where are you located?

We are located at 121-08 18th Avenue in College Point Queens, New York. Our number is (718) 463-3366.  You can find us on the directions page.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., Saturday 8:00 A.M. to 12 Noon. During the summer, we have extended hours Monday and Wednesday and are closed Saturday and Sunday.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Generally, yes. Although we make every effort to accommodate all of our customers, especially those who have broken down and are towed in, we work on appointments first, then a first come first served basis. Therefore an appointment is always recommended.

What services do you offer?

We are a full service shop that performs everything from routine factory scheduled maintenance to complete Powertrain or Drivetrain overhauls.

If you service my vehicle, does that void my Factory Warranty?

Absolutely not! This is a hot button topic in the industry right now. Some dealerships have claimed to customers that having your vehicle serviced anywhere but at the Dealer will void the warranty. This statement is not only FALSE, but also ILLEGAL! A dealer may not refuse warranty work so long as the customer has serviced the vehicle according to the FACTORY maintenance schedule at a registered shop. We have all the recommended Maintenance Schedules directly from the Manufacturer.

Can I wait for my vehicle?

That choice is really up to you. We will try to give you a rough estimate of how long you can expect to wait based on what service you need. Please keep in mind that several factors can prolong that time such as waiting for a part, mechanical difficulties and so forth. We are located off a main boulevard which has several shopping and dining establishments easily within walking distance. We also offer courtesy rides to nearby destinations, when our schedule permits.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and the following credit and debit cards, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover and GSA/Voyager fleet cards.

Do you work on my particular make/model vehicle?

We repair almost every make and model vehicle on the road today, however there is a very small percentage of vehicles that we cannot service due to a lack of parts, information available or both. If you give us a call we will gladly let you know.

Is AutoTech/are your technicians certified?

Yes and we are very proud of our certifications. We have  an ASE Certified Master Technician on staff and AutoTech has been certified an ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Repair Shop. This certification is only given to shops that have shown certification for over 75% of their technicians and are certified in every area of service offered. Currently we are the only Blue Seal of Excellence repair shop in Queens, New York.

Do you have a Diagnostic Machine?

Yes, but it isn't the one you are picturing in your head. When people think of diagnostics, they think of a computer you can plug a vehicle into that will tell you what is wrong. Nothing could be further from the truth. The only true Diagnostic Machine is a well educated and experienced technician, armed with a variety of diagnostic equipment including a multimeter, oscilloscope, hand held vehicle scanner and exhaust emission analyzer, and with access to an updated information library and ongoing training in the latest technology. Today's vehicles and systems demand nothing less.

Can I supply my own parts?

In almost every instance, NO. After many years in the auto repair business there are many reasons why this is our policy. Here are a few, we cannot warranty a job done with parts we did not supply, if the part you bring is incorrect we would have to charge you lift time until you get us the correct part, etc., etc. The only exception to this rule would be a catalog/specialty part for a custom job or a swap meet part for a classic car restoration. If your situation is one of these two please stop by before you purchase anything to discuss the job.

Can I have my old parts back?

Of course, just let us know when leaving your car for service that you would like your old parts back. Alternatively, if you like you can inspect your old parts when you pick your vehicle up and we would be happy to dispose of them after that. (Unless you are in the market for a muffler paper weight, brake pad bookends, etc..)

Do you offer a warranty on the work you perform?

Yes. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, therefore we use high quality parts and expert technicians which results in almost no warranty issues to deal with.
